Introducing the Cap City Legacy Pin Program

Cap City is more than a race — it's a CELEBRATION and a TRADITION.

This year, we are proud to launch the Cap City Legacy Pin Program celebrating participants who have made this event part of their story year after year.

Participants who complete 5, 10, 15 and 20 years of Cap City will receive their commemorative pin at this year's Byers Xtra Mile Finish Party!

What is the Cap City Legacy Pin Program?

The Cap City Legacy Pin Program celebrates participants who have made Cap City a tradition. Beginning at the 2026 OhioHealth Capital City Half & Quarter Marathon and Columbus Promise 5K, runners and walkers who reach a participation milestone will receive a commemorative Cap City Legacy Pin.

Legacy Pins are awarded at the following milestones:

5 years
10 years
15 years
20 years

How will I know if I qualify for a Legacy Pin?

If you qualify, your Legacy status will appear in your participant account once registration data is finalized. Eligible participants may also receive a confirmation email prior to race weekend.

How are years counted for Legacy Pin eligibility?

A “year” is counted for each Cap City event you officially completed, regardless of distance. Years do not need to be consecutive.

Will I receive a Legacy Pin if I’ve already passed a milestone year?

Yes. Legacy Pins are milestone-based, not year-specific.

Participants with 5–9 completed years will receive a 5-year pin
Participants with 10–14 completed years will receive a 5-year and 10-year pin
Participants with 15–19 completed years will receive a 5-year, 10-year pin and 15-year pin
Participants with 20+ completed years will receive a 5-year, 10-year pin, 15-year pin and 20-year pin

What if I believe I qualify, but it’s not showing in my participant account?

If you believe your participation history is incomplete or incorrect, please contact support@hakuapp.com prior to race weekend. We may ask for additional details to help verify your race history.

When and where can I pick up my Legacy Pin?

Legacy Pins are available exclusively at the Cap City Post-Race Party on race day. Pins will not be distributed at packet pickup or mailed.

What if I qualify but am not participating in this year’s Cap City?

If you qualify for a Legacy Pin but are not registered for this year’s event, you may pick up your pin the next year you participate in Cap City.

Can someone else pick up my pin for me?

Legacy Pins must be picked up by the participant. Proxy pickup is not available.

What if I forget to pick up my pin at the post-race party?
Pins must be picked up at the post-race party on race day. Unclaimed pins will not be mailed.

Does the Legacy Pin replace my finisher medal?

No. The Legacy Pin is an additional recognition and does not replace your finisher medal or any other race awards.
