Columbus, OH – [February 24, 2025] – The OhioHealth Capital City Half Marathon has been named a finalist in the USA TODAY 10Best Readers' Choice Awards for Best Half Marathon in the country. This national recognition highlights Cap City’s commitment to delivering an exceptional celebration and experience for runners, walkers, and the Columbus community.
Selected by a panel of experts and running industry professionals, the OhioHealth Capital City Half Marathon is one of twenty races nationwide to earn a spot in the competition. Now, it’s up to the public vote to determine the final Top 10 rankings, allowing the community and race enthusiasts to support Columbus’ premier half marathon.
"This nomination is a testament to the incredible energy, support, and dedication of our participants, volunteers, sponsors, and the city of Columbus," said David Babner, Race Director. "For over two decades, we have strived to make Cap City more than just a race—it's a celebration of the healthy, active lifestyle and the vibrant running and walking community."
Since its inception, the OhioHealth Capital City Half Marathon has become one of the Midwest’s premier spring running and walking events, featuring a one-of-a-kind tour of Columbus, energetic on-course entertainment, and the event’s signature Byers Xtra Mile Post-Race Party, featuring the PNC Post-Race live concert, complimentary food, and celebration drinks.
This is Cap City’s second consecutive nomination, having earned the #2 spot in the 2024 10Best Readers' Choice Awards for Best Half Marathon. With the support of the Columbus community, we can make Cap City #1 in 2025!
Voting for the USA TODAY 10Best is open now and runs through Monday, March 24 at noon EST. Supporters can cast their votes once per day at: https://10best.usatoday.
The final rankings will be announced following the voting period.
The 2025 OhioHealth Capital City Half Marathon is set for April 26, 2025, and will once again feature the Half Marathon, Quarter Marathon, and 5K distances. Registration is now open at capitalcityhalfmarathon.com.
