Tips On Staying Healthy This Holiday Season

With the holiday season upon us, your healthy, active goals might get put on the to-do list. Our Cap City Ambassadors have put together tips to help you keep reaching & crushing your goals this holiday season!

๐ŸŽ„ Do a Christmas lights run / walk at night through the neighborhood or try a new cross-training program to switch things up. Focus on fun, like themed holiday runs and track habits using apps to stay in check. Try a 5-minute Gratitude journal and say NO if you need to!
- Kristin Ferrell

๐ŸŒŸRun in familiar neighborhoods with cool Christmas lights! It’s fun and gets you in the spirit! But make sure you also have a light or turn your phone flashlight on because, #safety. Drink water to combat the holiday drinks. It will also make you feel full so you don’t grab the extra cookie. But heck if you grab the extra cookie, do it. No regrets!
- Rachael Kroeger

๐Ÿ—’๏ธRemain committed to your goals while being flexible in your approach. Plans change, things pop up, stuff happens, especially around the holidays. Swap days, adjust as needed, listen to your body.
- Allison Tuttle

๐ŸŽ… I love a good holiday bingo! Maybe lights related but not necessary, but forces you to try some new things.
- Shelby Watkins

โ˜ฎ๏ธ Find joy in what the season brings but also make time for stillness and peace. Take a yoga class, spend time in a sauna, schedule a massage, give yourself the amazing gift of self-care!
- Torre Summers

๐Ÿ”‘ Consistency is key! Every run should not be full throttle. Set a consistent plan and stick to it.
- Chris Glover

๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿป‍โ™€๏ธ Grab a few friends to train with…accountability works wonders and it’s more fun in the process!
- Julia Wiseman

๐Ÿ“ Set realistic expectations/goals and write them down and place them somewhere you’ll always see them…even if they’re on a Post-it note. Don’t be afraid to vent to a trusted person if things get tough.
- Andy Bracken

๐Ÿ’ง Keep drinking water every day. As the temps cool, it’s easy to find yourself dehydrated because you think you don’t need to drink as much water now. Develop the habit and stick to it year-round.
- Dave Parsons

๐Ÿ’ค Focus on SLEEP! 7-8 + hours every night. It's dark outside now anyway so turn in a little earlier ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿป Go tech-free! put down your phone and go outside! Walk around your neighborhood or just stand on the front porch and take some deep breaths while you're fully disconnected. what do you observe? how do you feel? โœจ Try something new! maybe that's a new restaurant or a running group you've been following on instagram for a while. getting outside your comfort zone will shake things up and help rejuvenate.
