Cap City To Celebrate 15th Anniversary With New Course In 2018
The OhioHealth Capital City Half Marathon will celebrate its 15th Anniversary when the spring celebration of the healthy, active lifestyle returns on April 28, 2018.
The OhioHealth Capital City Half Marathon, OhioHealth Quarter Marathon and Commit To Be Fit 5K will start and finish on High Street just steps from the Byers Xtra Mile Finish Line Party at the Columbus Commons.
The Half Marathon course will again be the "best tour of Columbus on two feet" and will highlight Downtown Columbus, German Village, The Ohio State University campus, Italian Village, the Short North Arts District and the Arena District.
"We can't wait to showcase our new course in 2018," Race Director David Babner said. "We are excited to start and finish all events on High Street. We want to showcase the many districts and neighborhoods that make Columbus unique and why we are proud that Cap City was Made In Cbus."
The Half and Quarter marathons will go south on High Street through German Village before turning north. The Half Marathon course will again highlight the OSU campus and Ohio Stadium before returning to Downtown and finishing on High Street. Gone is the Rich Street hill near the end of the previous course.
"We asked for your feedback and we heard you — no more hills at the end," Babner said. "Instead runners and walkers in the Half and Quarter will finish on a beautiful stretch down Vine and Front streets before finishing on High before celebrating at the Byers Xtra Mile Finish Line Party."
The Quarter Marathon course will highlight Downtown Columbus, the Short North and the Arena District, while the 5K course will highlight Downtown and new developments in Franklinton.
