Papa John’s of Central Ohio to Sponsor Training Tips, Pace Teams in 2017
COLUMBUS, Ohio (January 30 2017) — For the third straight year, Papa John’s of Central Ohio will be a major partner of the 2017 OhioHealth Capital City Half Marathon and a major partner of the LIVE broadcast on WBNS 10TV.
New this year, Papa John’s will help get runners and walkers to the Start Line and then guide them to the Finish Line by adding Official Training Tips and Pace Teams to its creative activation elements, race organizers announced today.
Papa John’s of Central, with 28 restaurants in Central Ohio, has been the Official Pizza of the OhioHealth Capital City Half Marathon since 2015.
In 2017, Papa John’s will provide “Better Training, Better Fuel Tips” to runners and walkers that will be featured in the Capital City Half Marathon Newsletter on online in the months prior to the event. On Race Day, Papa John’s will sponsor the “Papa John’s Pace Team” that will lead the way as runners and walker of all skill levels successfully complete the Half Marathon, Quarter Marathon or 10TV Commit To Be Fit 5K.
“Papa John’s is a tremendous partner of the OhioHealth Capital City Half Marathon and huge supporter of our professional sports teams and our community,” said Race Director David Babner. “We are excited to expand our partnership with Papa John’s in 2017 to include Better Training, Better Fuel Tips and the Papa John’s Pacers. And then of course we will continue the tradition of celebrating all finishers on at the post-race party Race Day with the World’s Largest Pizza Party.”
Papa John’s of Central Ohio will deliver more than 2,000 large pizza from 11 different restaurants to the Columbus Commons on Race Day in order to provide a complimentary slice of pizza to the event’s 14,500 participants. The unique giveaway has been tremendously popular with participants since it debuted in 2015.
Finally, Papa John’s will again donate five percent of gross sales on Race Day in its 25 restaurants to the OhioHealth Foundation, the benefiting charity of the OhioHealth Capital City Half Marathon since 2015.

The 2017 OhioHealth Capital City Half Marathon, Quarter Marathon, 10TV Commit To Be Fit 5K and 2017 USA Half Marathon Championships will be held in downtown Columbus and surrounding neighborhoods on April 29. All events begin and finish at the Columbus Commons, home of the Byers Xtra Mile Finish Line Party and Coors Light Post-Race Concert.
