OhioHealth Capital City Half Marathon Partners with Uber to Ensure Expanded Transportation Options for Race Attendees
Uber Technologies, a smartphone application connecting riders and drivers, has signed on as an Official Transportation Partner of the OhioHealth Capital City Half Marathon, Race Director David Babner announced today.
The OhioHealth Capital City Half Marathon will provide dedicated Uber pick-up and drop-off zones conveniently located near the event's Start Line and post-race party at the Columbus Commons to make it easy for event participants to use the service on Race Day.
“We are proud to partner with Uber Columbus to allow our participants a stress-free way to travel to and from the Capital City Half Marathon on Race Day,” Babner said. “I am a huge fan of Uber and routinely use the service so I can attest to its quality service and convenience. We look forward to sharing this experience with the runners and walkers who take part in this year's OhioHealth Capital City Half Marathon.”
Uber will offer access to a free ride — up to $20 in value — to first-time users through an in-app promotional code, exclusive to Capital City Half Marathon participants and spectators.
Uber will also offer VIP participants access to a free ride up to $30 in value, regardless if they are new or existing Uber users. The Capital City Half Marathon VIP Experience is offered to all runners for $99 and includes an Official Diamond Cellar VIP Under Armour jacket, free parking, and admittance to the Diamond Cellar VIP Tend on Race Day. The tent features catered breakfast and lunch and private bathrooms.
The OhioHealth Capital City Half Marathon will be held on Saturday, May 2, with the Half Marathon and Patrón Quarter Marathon beginning at 8 a.m. and the Commit To Be Fit 5K beginning at 8:20 a.m. All three races begin at the Front and Town streets and end on S. High Street near at the Columbus Commons.
The dedicated Uber pick-up and drop-off zones will be at South High and East Main streets (used primarily for drop-off before the race) and South Third and East Town streets (used primarily for pick-up) after the event.
Download the Uber app in the iTunes Store or via Google Play, sign up and request a ride. Once a driver is confirmed and en route, users will see the driver's name, vehicle model, license plate number, photo and rating along with ETA. For more information about Uber, please visit: www.uber.com.
