Matt Folk Wins 2012 Capital City Half Marathon
Matt Folk of Perrysburg, Ohio won his second major road race in three weeks yesterday when he took an early lead and was never seriously challenged in winning the Capital City Half Marathon Presented by KeyBank in 1:09:29.
Folk, 36, pulled away from a small pack about 1½ miles into the race. Levi Fox of Troy, Ohio finished second in 1:10:59.
Folk, who captured the Columbus Marathon in October, also won the Glass City Marathon in late April.
“This was the first time I did a real big race so close to a marathon, so I was a little unsure how my body would respond,” he said. “Luckily everything went really well.”

2012 Cap City Half Marathon Event Guide
U.S. Soldiers Based in Afghanistan "Shadow Run" Cap City
About 138 U.S. (Active, Reserve and Guard) Soldiers and Coalition forces from several different countries ran a Cap City Shadow Run at Camp Mike Spann in Northern Afghanistan on May 5, 2012 while family and friends ran Cap City in Columbus. The soldiers completed 21 laps around a .64-mile gravel loop to on the base to complete the half marathon. Cap City provided "Shadow Run" shirts for the soldiers before the race and shipped medals to them after the race. Diamond Cellar Tag Heuer Ultimate Finisher's Medals Honorees
Diamond Cellar and Tag Heuer teamed up again in 2012 to award the Ultimate Finisher's Medals to two Capital City Half Marathon participants who “show what they are made of” by overcoming great challenges to compete in Cap City. This year's recipients were Kristen Segna of Reynoldsburg, Ohio and Matt O'Brien of Mansfield, Ohio. Segna and O'Brien were recognized at the 2012 Champions VIP Reception on May 3 during the OhioHealth Health & Fitness Expo Party. 10TV'S Andrea Cambern Honored for Commitment to Cap City
Andrea Cambern, a television personality for more than 20 years at WBNS-TV (Channel 10) and the driving force behind the station's Commit To Be Fit initiative, was the honorary race director of the Capital City Half Marathon Presented by KeyBank. Andrea, who has been on the air at WBNS since 1991, recently announced earlier this year she will step down from her duties after 20 years.
