10TV'S Andrea Cambern Honored for Commitment to Cap City
Andrea Cambern, a television personality for more than 20 years at WBNS-TV (Channel 10) and the driving force behind the station's Commit To Be Fit initiative, was the honorary race director of the Capital City Half Marathon Presented by KeyBank.
Andrea, who has been on the air at WBNS since 1991, recently announced earlier this year she will step down from her duties after 20 years. She has played an instrumental role in the development of the Capital City Half Marathon since its inaugural event in 2004.
Race Director David Babner honored Andrea at the 2012 VIP Champions Reception for her dedication and commitment to the Cap City and Commit To Be Fit movements.
Cap City's accompanying 5-kilometer race has been known as the Commit To Be Fit 5K since its inception, and Cambern's dedication to promoting the 5K, half marathon and other events have helped grow Cap City from 3,000 runners and walkers in its first year to an expected 13,000 in 2012.
“Andrea has been a tremendous supporter of the Capital City Half Marathon for the past nine years and we were honored to have serve as the first honorary race director in race history,” Babner said. “We could not have grown into one of the largest half marathons in the Midwest over the past several years without the unbridled support of Andrea and the entire Commit To Be Fit movement.”
Andrea has long been the spokeswoman for the Commit To Be Fit 5K, which had record participation this year due in part to a partnership between 10TV, Commit To Be Fit and Giant Eagle that encouraged 10TV viewers to run or walk the 3.1-mile distance for the first time.
Andrea also hosted the Champions VIP Reception and was as honorary starter on May 5 before joining the field in the Capital City Half Marathon.
