Land-Grant Brewing Company, a Columbus-based brewery with a strong love and dedication to local sports, will produce a limited-release American Wheat beer to celebrate the 15th Anniversary of the OhioHealth Capital City Half Marathon.
13.1 Wheat will be available at Land-Grant’s taproom and in Giant Eagle stores in Central Ohio in the weeks leading to Race Day on April 28.
The 13,000 runners and walkers in this year’s event will receive a complimentary can of 13.1 Wheat at the Byers Xtra Mile Finish Line Party. 13.1 Wheat will also be served in the Diamond Cellar VIP Tent on Race Day.
“All races have shirts and all M3S Sports events have medals, but we are just thrilled that the 15th Anniversary Edition of the OhioHealth Capital City Half Marathon will have its own beer,” race director David Babner said. “We are proud of our local heritage and partnering with Land-Grant is the perfect way to celebrate that Cap City was ‘Made In Cbus.’”
Land-Grant has been a popular local brewery since it opened its iconic taproom in Franklinton in October 2014. The company’s name is a nod to The Ohio State University and the company has been a major supporter of the Columbus Crew.
“One of the greatest things about craft beer is the opportunity to build community around our beer, and runners have long been a part of that community,” said Walt Keys, Co-Founder and Creative Director of Land-Grant. “We've hosted many running events and groups here at the brewery and have several serious runners on staff, so the opportunity to partner with the Cap City Half Marathon is a natural one for us. We think we've developed a properly refreshing beer to greet the participants at the finish line."
